BBQ CHICKEN CRESCENT RING WITH SMOKED GOUDA AND MOZZARELLA
Ingredients
  • 2 Cans Crescent Rolls (16 Triangles)
  • 2 Cups Shredded Chicken Breast (Approximately 1 – 1 1/2 pounds)
  • 1 Tablespoon SWEEETHEAT Southern BBQ Blend
  • Approximately 1-2 cups of water
  • 1 Cup Red Onion, Thinly Sliced
  • ½ Cup SWEEETHEAT Spicy Homey Honey BBQ
  • ¼ Cup Shredded Smoked Gouda
  • ¼ Cup Shredded Mozzarella
  • Optional: Ranch Dressing and additional SWEEETHEAT Spicy Homey Honey BBQ Sauce

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Step 2

Prepare the chicken breasts by seasoning with SWEEETHEAT Southern BBQ Blend, and placing them in the bottom of a large pot. Pour water over the chicken until it’s just covered. Place the pot on the stove and cook over medium high heat until it comes to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 F degrees.

Step 3

Discard water, and place cooked chicken breasts in a bowl. Shred chicken by pulling the chicken breasts apart with two large forks. Set aside to cool. While the chicken is cooling, prepare the crescent ring.

Step 4

Place a small bowl in the center of an ungreased cookie sheet. The bowl will serve as a guide to create the crescent ring. Unroll both cans of crescent roll dough and separate the triangles. Arrange the triangles in a ring with the large sides of the dough closest to the bowl, overlapping slightly, and the pointed ends of the triangles facing outwards. The circle should resemble the shape of a sun.

Step 5

Once chicken is cooled, add the sliced red onion, SWEEETHEAT Spicy Homey Honey BBQ sauce, smoked gouda, and mozzarella to the bowl and mix until well combined. Spoon chicken filling mixture over the side of the crescent roll circle that’s closest to the bowl leaving room to fold over the tips. Fold the tips over the chicken filling, connecting it to the bottom layer of dough to ensure it’s secure. Repeat for all 16 crescent triangles. Note: The dough will not cover all of the filling and some will peek through.

Step 6

Once the crescent ring is complete, place in the oven and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown. Use a spatula to transfer the baked ring to a plate or platter. Serve while still warm.

Step 7

Optional: Using the same small bowl you used as a guide to create the crescent ring, prepare a dipping sauce by combining equal parts ranch dressing and SWEEETHEAT Spicy Homey Honey BBQ sauce.
