Step by Step Instructions
Place your beans in a large bowl and add enough water to cover by at least 4 inches. Let them soak overnight.
Smoke the turkey sausage using apple wood.
Sauté the onions, celery, garlic for about 3-5 minutes until onions are wilted and aromatic..
Add SWEEETHEAT All Purpose Rub.
Pour in the chicken broth.
Add the bay leaf.
Drain the soaked beans, rinse, and place the beans in the pot. Season with SWEEETHEAT Southern Spice Blend. Mix and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to a simmer and cook, uncovered for about 20 minutes.
Add the sausage into the pot, continue cooking for another 10 minutes, or more, stirring occasionally , until the beans are tender and slightly thickened.
Remove the bay leaf.
