SWEEETHEAT Sweet Potato Soup
Fall is finally here and that means it is soup season. This soup recipe is smooth and fulfilling with a touch of heat! We used our Southern BBQ Blend in this recipe because it is complimentary to sweet potatoes. The flavors, within the blend: ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and cayenne pepper, enhance the sweet potato and apple. Garnish your sweet potato soup with any topping that you choose but we topped our soup with crumbled bacon, chives, pan fried sweet potato skins and pan fried apple skins.

SWEEETHEAT Sweet Potato Soup
Ingredients
Soup
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- 1 Medium Onion, Diced
- 3 Garlic Cloves, Minced
- 2 Tablespoons SWEEETHEAT Southern BBQ Blend
- 1.5 Pounds Sweet Potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 Gala Apple, peeled, cored and chopped
- 3 Cups Chicken Broth
Garnish
- 2 Slices Bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 Tablespoon Chives
- Sweet Potato Skin, pan fried
- Apple Skin, pan fried
Instructions
- Cook onions, garlic in butter until tender.
- Add sweet potatoes, apple, Southern BBQ Blend and salt to taste.
- Stir in chicken broth, cover and simmer 20-25 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
- Puree soup in a blender.
- Pour soup into bowls.
- Top with crumbled bacon, chives, sweet potato skins and apple skins.
